Juventus suspended punishment for ‘point reduction’… 3rd in Serie A

Juventus regained the lost points. But it’s not confirmed yet. The reduction penalty was suspended.

Foreign media such as 스포츠토토 the British BBC and Sky Sports Italy reported on the 21st (Korean time) that Juventus’ appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) Sports Guarantee Committee was accepted and the disciplinary action was suspended.

Even after recording 18 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses in Italian Serie A this season, Juventus, which only had 44 points due to a penalty of 15 point reduction from the Italian Football Association (FIGC), recovered to 59 points and Napoli (24 wins, 3 draws). 3 losses, 75 points), rose to third place after Lazio (18 wins, 7 draws, 5 losses, 61 points).

AS Roma (17 wins, 5 draws, 8 losses, 56 points) fell to 4th place, while AC Milan (15 wins, 8 draws, 7 losses, 53 points) and Inter Milan (16 wins, 3 draws, 11 losses, 51 points) fell to European football next season. They were pushed out of the cut-off line to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and finished 5th and 6th.

Juventus received a 15-point penalty from the FIGC for tampering with the accounting books for a long time in January. In the process, former president Andrea Agnelli, former vice president Pavel Nedved, and former general manager Fabio Paratici resigned in November last year while the investigation was underway, and were also suspended from football activities by FIGC.

In particular, Paratici has been acting as Tottenham Hotspur’s general manager since July 2021.

However, Juventus appealed to CONI against the FIGC ruling. CONI did not judge the circumstances of the manipulation of the accounting books, but only investigated the legal justification of the punishment imposed on the Juventus club and directors by the FIGC and made a decision to suspend the reduction of points.
