Baseball’s Samsung’s big batting success…upsets Hanwha

The Samsung Lions used a hot bat to pound the Hanwha Eagles’ bullpen and pull off a thrilling upset.

Samsung won the visiting Hanwha 7-2 today (March 3) at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon.

It was the second straight win for No. 7 Samsung and the second straight loss for No. 9 Hanwha.

Samsung fell behind early in the game, unable to capitalize on opposing starter Felix Peña.

Aside from Koo Jae-rook, who singled in the top of the first inning, not a single player reached first base until the third inning.메이저놀이터

Samsung pulled within one run in the fourth inning, trailing 2-0, on a one-out double by Kang Min-ho, but couldn’t get any closer.

Samsung turned the tide in the top of the seventh inning.

With two outs, Yoon Jung-bin, who came to bat for Oh Jae-il, beat Peña for a huge game-winning solo home run over the center field fence.

It was the first pinch-hit home run of his career for Yoon, who joined Samsung in 2018.

With the momentum in their favor, Samsung scored a big run in the top of the eighth inning, tied at 2-2.

Leadoff hitter Kim Ji-chan and pinch-hitter Kim Hyun-jun hit back-to-back singles against Hanwha’s second pitcher Jung Woo-ram, and with runners on first and second with one out, Koo Ja-rook hit a single up the middle against Hanwha’s third pitcher Park Sang-won.

Down 3-2, Samsung loaded the bases with a walk to Kang Min-ho, and pinch-hitter Kim Tae-kun followed with a two-run wedge single to center field.

The next batter, Kim Dong-yeop, blasted another RBI single to make it 6-2, and Samsung added a run in the ninth to put the game out of reach for Hanwha.

Yoon Jung-bin went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and an RBI, while Kim Tae-gun went 1-for-1 with a walk and two RBI.

Koo Ja-rook chipped in with a 2-for-4 performance with one RBI and one run scored, but left on a stretcher in the bottom of the eighth inning after injuring a muscle in the back of his thigh (hamstring) while playing defense, much to the chagrin of those around him.

Hanwha Peña was unable to capitalize on the win despite going seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
